About Company
Starfire Systems, Inc. offers a wide range of patented silicon carbide (SiC) ceramic forming polymers and material systems that companies use to meet performance and cost targets where high temperature, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and weight are requirements that must be met.
Dr. Walter Sherwood founded Starfire in 1988. Dr. Leonard Interrante and Dr. Chris Whitmarsh joined Starfire Systems Inc. in 1991 to demonstrate the usefulness of a newly developed and patented SiC precursor polymer, STARFIRE SMP-10, for the fabrication of advanced ceramic. Subsequent internal development has successfully improved polymer manufacturing efficiencies, broadened the product line, and demonstrated applications of this revolutionary new materials technology.
Starfire Systems has continued to grow through the further expansion and market acceptance of this unique enabling polymer technology. The combination of a one component liquid silicon carbide forming polymer and our extensive materials engineering expertise affords our customers highly versatile, low cost, environmentally friendly advanced ceramic materials forming technologies.
