About Company
The Network of Excellence for Chemical Nanomaterials- CC-NanoChem - is the central German network for the development and application of new kinds of high-tech materials based on nanotechnology. It coordinates and accompanies R&D activities up to market launch, which can be decisive for the competitiveness of technological enterprises across the branches. It is coordinated by the Leibniz Institute for New Materials (INM), Saarbrücken (seat of the head office) which, with its 200 employees and more than 100 comprehensive patent applications, is considered today to be leading in chemical nanomaterials.
CC-NanoChem, founded in 1999 as one of six Federal German Centres of Excellence, entered its third phase of development in October 2003. The network promoted by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) concentrates on three technological platforms with a broad industrial future:
- Nanoparticle technologies and resulting applications across industry
- Surface technologies and resulting innovations in many branches
- Nanomaterials for applications in the field of life sciences
Besides the technical main points of effort, the aims of the centre also include the topic of further and continuation training, technology transfer up to founding of enterprises and clarification of questions in connection with innovation and social acceptance.
