About Company

Nanotecture was formed in 2003 having been spun out of Southampton University, England. We are based on the Chilworth Science Park near Southampton. Our business is the design, manufacture and supply of products which make use of our proprietary nanoscale architectures. Our principal target markets are power sources, sensors and coatings.

Our core technology relies on the use of soft matter such as liquid crystals (simple, low-cost commercial surfactants) or polymer dispersions. These make templated materials containing regular arrays of well controlled nanopores. This patented templating process and considerable accumulated knowledge enable us to make 3D structures with nanoscale (one billionth of a metre) architectures. These structures have unique properties which are different from bulk materials and importantly have characteristics not available from particle based nanomaterials. Our nanomaterials also exhibit substantial increases in effective surface area, which gives significant performance improvements in a large number of applications.
