Emente was founded by Professor Hugh Clare to help industry deal with the bewildering growth of Microsystems Technology and Nanotechnology (MNT). The company is devoted to enabling industry generate business pull for MNT.
Hugh Clare has worked at the micro and nano scale during the greater part of his career. A founder member of the Microsystems and Nanotechnology Manufacturing Association (MMA), and its first Chairman, he was the architect of the DTI funded network of open access facilities. As the Director of the MNT Network, and the Chairman of the Executive Panel he oversaw the creation of the open access network. Almost L250 million was raised from central and local government funding as well as industry and academia to create the network.
This now represents a L700 million resource for the benefit of UK industry, as well as being a very important resource in the global MNT supply chain.
Hugh Clare stresses the importance of keeping abreast of the development of technology, and holds a number of prestigious positions in the field of science and engineering. He was recently appointed as the Royal Academy of Engineering Professor in Integrated System Design at the University of Liverpool.
