Institute of Materials Research and Engineering - Molecular Materials Laboratory

This institute was established in 1997 and since then they have built strong capabilities in materials analysis, characterisation, design & growth, patterning, fabrication, synthesis and integration. IMRE is an institute of talented researchers equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as the SERC Nanofabrication and Characterisation Facility to carry out world-class materials science research.

The laboratory is a joint effort between IMRE and the Department of Chemistry at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Their main fields of research are: Molecular catalysis; Biomimetic materials; Energy materials; Carbon materials.

They are working on these characterization: Composite Materials; Functional Inorganic Materials; Functional Surfaces; Materials for Bioanalysis and Medical Technologies; Materials-critical Sensing and Transduction; Materials for Energy Harvest and Storage; Molecular and Polymer Materials; and Photonics, Plasmonics and Metamaterials.
