The group studies the connection between structure and mechanical properties in biological systems.
They study the relationship between structure and mechanical properties for peptides and proteins assemblies in vitro. In the latter, they are interested in human pathologies that modify the mechanical properties of cells and tissues through changes in cytoskeletal or extra-cellular matrix architecture. The techniques they use include atomic force microscopy, electron microscopy, X-ray scattering and Raman spectroscopy.
In fact, the group studies the connection between structure and mechanical properties in biological systems. They are particularly interested in self-assembled protein filaments like collagen fibrils, intermediate filaments and myosin thick filaments.
