About Company
Heptagon is a Finnish-Swiss company and was established in 1993 to design and sell diffractive optical elements. In 2000, Heptagon acquired the replicated micro-optical elements manufacturing division of CSEM SA (Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique) in Zurich. Heptagon’s roots are in the world leading R&D on diffractive optics at the Helsinki University of Technology and the University of Joensuu, as well as the development and commercial application of production technology at CSEM Zurich. This gives Heptagon 20 years of micro-optics experience.
Today, Heptagon develops, designs and manufactures diffractive and refractive micro-optical elements and sub-systems. Micro-optical elements are the next-generation of optical components and enable the collection, distribution and modification of light. These cost-effective miniature components are designed to replace conventional bulk optics with the additional benefit of greater functionality, resulting in new products that would not have been possible using conventional optics.
