About Company
The Chemistry Department has been involved in a number of joint activities both within and outside of the University over the years. Four of these activities are perhaps particularly worth mentioning, two relating to undergraduate programs and two to the areas of graduate studies and research. In 1970, the Biochemistry program was created and is run jointly by members of the Chemistry and Biology Departments, both of whom have biochemists on staff. This program has been a popular one ever since it started and has attracted many excellent students over the years. Several of the Biochemistry courses in the program are taught by members of the Chemistry Department. In 1991, the program in Environmental Science was initiated. This is a much broader program and involves the participation of many departments and disciplines besides Chemistry. The Chemistry Department is, however, proud to be an active participant and has created three new courses especially to meet the needs of this program.
