About Company
Nanofactory Instruments was founded in 1999 as a spin-off company from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. Our office is still situated at walking distance from Chalmers.
Nanofactory Instruments develop, manufacture and sell unique solutions for the electron microscopy market, giving users the possibility to simultaneously image and manipulate at atomic levels, all inside electron microscopes. The company bases its technology on almost a decade of pioneering research by its founder Hakan Olin, professor in the Solid State Physics department at Chalmers University of Technology.
We offer scientists and corporations extended possibilities to be in the absolute forefront of research, technical development and production within areas such as nanotechnology, materials science, and microelectronics. In these areas, researchers already are at, or are rapidly approaching atomic levels. Indeed, atomic level microscopy and nanomanipulating instruments provide some of the basic tools needed to open new research fields, make technology shifts more easily, and to transform the results into industrial applications, bringing new advanced products to market in less time.
The market for Nanofactory Instruments' products is found among the users of the more than 5.000 electron microscopes that are in use today. The immediate users are found both in university research facilities and industrial research centers. A large, emerging potential is found in process monitoring and quality control, for example in the semiconductor industry.
