NAST Centre

The company is a multidisciplinary research and training centre.
The NAST Centre for Nanoscience & Nanotechnology & Innovative Instrumentation is an multidisciplinary research and training centre designed to promote research programs among engineers, materials and medical scientists at the farefront of Italian (bio-) nanotechnology. Promotion of innovation is among the NAST mission, and thereby to provide transfer and transformation of basic knowledge in nanoscience to nanotechnology in Italian industry: available to assist in the creation of spin-off companies and catalyze innovative projects in existing Italian companies and to commercialise the products of the research. The centre is located on the site of Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata and includes about 100 staff members. The research activities in nanoscience and nanotechnology address fundamental issues in healthcare, space sciences, cultural heritage, materials, ICT energy and environment. To accomplish this mission, the Centre integrates highly synergistic research activities in nanoscale science and design and development of innovative instrumentation with the aim to understand how to manipulate atoms and combine them in original and useful ways to produce radically new or improved structures by exploiting the new properties of matter at the level of the nanometre.
