Jagellonian University

The aim of this unique programme of study is to educate experts in technology and materials used in the most advanced sectors of industry (e.g. nanomaterials, biomaterials, photonic materials). Working with advanced materials requires in-depth knowledge of quantum physics and chemistry. The graduates may pursue careers in both industry and laboratory research.
The programme gives the students the opportunity to gain interdisciplinary knowledge from the fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, and the basics of nanotechnology with the special focus on properties of advanced materials' on both micro- and macroscopic level and the modern research methods and techniques used to study these materials. Graduates' qualifications Contemporary materials science covers a wide range of interdisciplinary issues. The graduates of the programme: Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology possess interdisciplinary knowledge in the areas of materials science and technology used to produce modern materials, as well as practical skills in their chosen specialization. The graduates can find employment in high-tech sector, including academic research institutions, research laboratories with links to industry, and industrial plants that use technologies based on newly developed materials. Besides, the interdisciplinary programme, which also includes courses in economy and management, prepares the graduates to run their own enterprises in high-tech sector.
