BZKG - Bayreuth Center for Colloids & Interfaces

The Bayreuth Center for Colloids and Interfaces is one of the central institutions of the University of Bayreuth. BZKG provides research in the field of colloidal solutions, gels and polymeric materials.
BZKG has a lot of competencies. Among them we can find: characterization and modification of surfaces and coatings, preparatiom of nanoporous capsules and membranes, hybridmaterials and nanocomposites, synthesis of polymer systems and many other fields. Scientists aim to understand and control the structure of colloids, gels and polymers from the nano- to the microscale. Staff members elucidate and use mechanisms of self-assembly to realize complex structural hierarchies. To characterize these structures company uses a variety of different methods. These include scattering methods, microscopy and spectroscopic methods. Specific research topics include nanocomposites, polymeric drug carriers, microfluidics and the elucidation of self-assembly phenomena. To other competencies of the company belong molecular dynamics simulations of organic materials, formulations for electrospinning, catalysis of nanoparticles etc. A list of all products and services could be found on a website of the company
