About Company
Apogee Photonics was created from the merger of ASIP and T-Networks in July 2005. This combination of a leading supplier of 10Gb/s short reach uncooled optics and 10Gb/s long-reach cooled optics now provides the broadest set of 10Gb/s transmission solutions in the market. Both companies had developed integrated photonics strategies. ASIP's integration platform was Asymetric Twinguide (ATG ™) which is a monolithic integration technology that greatly simplifies the processing of integrated photonics. T-Networks had developed integrated SOA technology to use with its Telcordia-qualified hybrid packaging technology for chip-to-chip coupling. Both technologies provide unique advantages for different segments of the market and this shows in the business results for the two companies.
In 2004, T-Networks had quadrupled its revenue and was a key supplier of products for the Tier 1 vendors in the 10Gb/s 300-pin MSA market and for Tier 1 telecommuncations line card manufacturers. Likewise, ASIP was strongly ramping in late 2004 to supply the emerging 10GbE market and sported design wins with over half of the tier 1 transciever manufacturers. Both companies were global corporations with significant sales in North America, Europe, and China. By combining these customer, product and technology sets, Apogee Photonics has become a key player in 10Gb/s optoelectronics.
